Cyclone Marcus

Sadly, this past Saturday, Darwin was hit by a Cyclone (hurricane). It started in the early morning around 8 am and lasted till about 6 pm. During this time, we were evacuated out of our buildings and placed into Cyclone proof buildings. The Cyclone was only a Category 2 (out of 5) but ripped trees and their roots from the ground and many streets were flooded over. Cyclone Marcus was the strongest Cyclone that Darwin has had in the past 30 years. Many across town were left without power and drinkable water. Another Cyclone has begun forming and is already at Category 4 but is moving away from Darwin. If it were to come, we would be evacuated from campus and placed into a shelter so regardless, we have a safe plan in placed. But for now, we clean up what we can outside and plant more trees :)
